Maastricht Health Campus

Maastricht Health Campus (formerly Maastricht Life & Science Campus) will be an internationally respected and specialized valorization campus in the future, where activities will take place around medical- and health scientific research. Maastricht Health Campus targets a top ten position in Europe in the field of valorization. Since 2008 the academic hospital Maastricht (azM) and the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences of Maastricht University have joined forces in the Maastricht UMC+. Since August 2009 the further development and expansion of the Maastricht Health Campus has been worked at intensively from the UMC+ and the university, together with the Province of Limburg, the municipality of Maastricht and the industrial bank LIOF.

Project description

We got our first assignment because the various parties of the steering committee had divergent points of view concerning:

  1. The expectations of the master plan
  2. The roles that can be played
  3. The contributions that can be made towards the realization of this master plan

What have we delivered:

A visualization of the mission and ambition which enabled a common mind-set and a more collective understanding.

  1. From the mission and ambition we reasoned towards the governance
  2. After that we showed each partner where his commitments could be, looking from his natural role and from the need of the campus.
  3. We worked out a proposal for a follow up plan .

In the second assignment the key question was: What must happen to make the valorization process work effectively?

What have we delivered:

  1. The breaking up of the valorization process into two coherent parts
  2. Provided insight into what kind of processes, activities and objectives must be managed
  3. Description of the MHC organization  which is necessary for this
  4. Definition of the key players and their roles, responsibilities and job profiles
  5. Assessment of the “FTE’s” needed by the organization assigned for this
  6. Guaranteeing the related decision-making process in the board
  7. Advice about the organizationary embedding of the key projects and the present , existing functions
  8. Insight into the synergy with the Chemelot Campus

The project has been executed in a cooperation of TheVirtualMananager and Minase.
